NY19Votes grew out of the resistance and Indivisible movement
After the November 2016 election, new and experienced activists from all over the district were determined to resist the Trump agenda and send Congressman John Faso packing. NY19Votes was formed to accomplish this mission by teaching activist how to canvass and effectively outreach to voters.
We held our first event on March 12th, 2017 and brought together just under 400 volunteers at 12 launch sites across the 19th District. On what turned out to be one of the coldest days of the year, activists who had never knocked doors before spent hours in freezing temperatures talking to voters. On their return they all asked the same question:
"When can we do this again?"
Since that day, NY19Votes has sent hundreds of volunteers each canvass to knock on doors. We've empowered local Indivisible groups to run their own local canvasses and provided training for local leaders and activists. We've also formed strong alliances with groups who share our vision.
We defeated John Faso this November and we did it by talking to voters.
NY 19 Votes is coordinating, training and deploying volunteers because this is the crucial infrastructure we need to win in every election.
